Genetic Diversity

Very little information is available about the “status” of genetic diversity in plant or animal species in Bahrain. On the other hand, certain species are particularly noteworthy in Bahrain for their genetic diversity including horses, the Arabian Ibex, and date palms the latter of which has over 100 varieties. Efforts are being made to conserve the pure breeds of Arab horse and camel strains.
